About Manual DTG Pricing
How Manual DTG Pricing Works
This calculator helps you price Direct-to-Garment printing services for customer-supplied garments. Enter your base garment cost, select a print location, and specify the quantity to get accurate pricing.
The calculator uses the same pricing engine as our standard DTG pricing, with print costs and margins from our pricing database. Orders under 24 pieces include a $50 Less Than Minimum (LTM) fee, which is divided across all items to cover setup and production costs.
Complete DTG Pricing Formula
Base Formula:
Unit Price = RoundToHalfDollar((Base Cost ÷ Margin Denominator) + Print Cost + LTM Fee Per Unit)
1. Margin Application
The margin is applied using a margin denominator retrieved from our pricing API (typically 0.6):
- Garment with Margin = Base Cost ÷ Margin Denominator
- Example: $10 base cost ÷ 0.6 = $16.67 after margin
2. Print Cost Determination
Print costs are retrieved from our pricing API based on location and quantity tier:
- Single Locations: Direct cost lookup (e.g., Left Chest, Full Front)
- Combo Locations: Sum of individual component costs
- Example: "Left Chest + Full Back" = LC cost + FB cost
- The system automatically identifies combo locations and calculates total print cost
3. Quantity Tiers & Pricing
Pricing is based on quantity tiers with volume discounts:
Quantity Range | Pricing Tier Used | Special Rules |
---|---|---|
1-23 pieces | 24-47 tier | Uses 24+ pricing + LTM fee |
24-47 pieces | 24-47 tier | Standard pricing |
48-71 pieces | 48-71 tier | Volume discount |
72+ pieces | 72+ tier | Best pricing |
4. Less Than Minimum (LTM) Fee
For orders under 24 pieces, an LTM fee is applied:
- Total LTM Fee: $50 (fixed)
- LTM Fee Per Unit: $50 ÷ Quantity
- Example: 10 shirts = $50 ÷ 10 = $5.00 per shirt
- This fee helps cover the fixed costs of setting up and running small production batches
- The per-unit fee decreases as quantity increases (up to 24 pieces)
5. Rounding Rules
All unit prices are rounded to the nearest half dollar ($0.50):
- $15.24 → $15.50
- $15.25 → $15.50
- $15.74 → $16.00
- $15.75 → $16.00
This rounding is applied after all calculations (margin, print cost, and LTM fee).
Example Calculation
Scenario: 10 shirts, $8 base cost, Left Chest print
- Garment with margin: $8 ÷ 0.6 = $13.33
- Print cost (24-47 tier): $6.00
- Subtotal: $13.33 + $6.00 = $19.33
- LTM fee per unit: $50 ÷ 10 = $5.00
- Total before rounding: $19.33 + $5.00 = $24.33
- Final unit price: $24.50 (rounded to nearest $0.50)
- Total order: $24.50 × 10 = $245.00
